Get Fishy with Fashion

Rodarte Fall 2008

"Fashion is not something that exist only in dresses. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening." -Coco Chanel

May I add: Fashion is in a fish bowl.

I began this post with a Coco Chanel's quote because I've noticed it's one of the most liked or used quotes by fashion bloggers.  It's a great quote.  I totally agree with her on fashion exists everywhere-- infinitely through ideas.  I believe the biggest source of inspiration comes from mother nature.  There is endless beauty to be emulated and cultivated for our insatiable hunger for change and newness.

Rodarte's Fall 2008 collection is an fusion of different themes: nature, goth, Japan-street style, which resulted in some looks that are cool but feminine at the same time.

Canadian designer, Lucian Matis's Koi fish inspired dress is refreshing

Ricardo Tisci's fish-like couture dress is far from affordable, but according to him, couture is highly "emotional and experimental".  The fish scales were mathematically sewn to give a 3D-ish look, making the woman feel like fish. It was one of the most expensive dresses to make for the collection.

Prada's F'2011 collection is one of the latest to show the love of fish scales and colors.
