Links à la Mode Feature & Hello February

The shortest month of the year, February, is what I called the V-month. V simply stands for Valentine's. I think we should really celebrate love the entire month-- not just one day. I recently learned that my 5 year-old niece loves drawing hearts, which is puzzling to me how children gravitate towards things that are associated with love at such a young age! Anyway, I'll have to dive my nose into some books for an answer. Let the 28 days of love begin today!

It has been pretty incredible to start a new chapter this month with my 5th LALM feature so far this year!

Links à la Mode Feature & Award Shows

As we're getting ready to bid January good-bye, I am so ready to rid myself of this awful nagging flu that has plagued me for the past 2 weeks. It was partly my fault for not getting the flu shot before the flu  epidemic broke and  flu vaccines became a shortage in many pharmacies in town. Besides keeping myself hydrated with plenty of liquids and grapefruits (my favorite citrus), I have been loving the award shows.  So, don't be surprised to find lots of celebrity fashion posts, especially with the Oscar's coming soon.

Besides enjoying all the new fashion with fashion week by soaking up all the pretty images on style.com, I'm also very happy to be featured my 4th time this month with the weekly IFB LALM. Please check out these wonderful links and have a great  week ahead. The most dreadful day (Monday) is over!

Stepping Up the Style

The thing that keeps fashion interesting is that it's a never-ending project. But that doesn't mean we don't like to strive for perfection anyway. Whether it be following your favorite fashion icons, saying no to the trends, or breaking cliches, style can always be stepped up even when we simplify our wardrobes. This week we have a solid round up of style related posts, so be sure to check them all out!

Links à la Mode Feature & Feel Lucky

January has been a great month for TSB, as this week's LALM  features TSB for the 3rd consecutive time. This has never happened before, so I feel incredibly lucky. I hope your week has been filled with something joyful, no matter how big or small your accomplishments are. I'm so motivated to keep writing better posts and hopefully I'll have your support along the way.

Scratch the Surface

"They" say fashion is superficial, but would those same people say the same thing if they had no clothes? Or if they had to wear ugly clothes? Chances are "they'd" be singing a different tune. Whether you call it vanity, shallowness, superficiality, the truth is we all need fashion to get through the day... so is it really so superfluous? We think not! This week we have a load of great posts that get to the essentials of style, from styling that plaid shirt literally 50 ways to becoming more confident to concealing those pesky under eye circles (because you know, you do need to look your best!)

Links à la Mode Feature & 2014 trends

This is the first time I feel so optimistic about a new year. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking forward to, but I know a few major changes are going to happen.  I just have a feeling that it will be a better year than 2013.  In terms of blog posts, I'm looking forward to covering more trends to  include menswear.  It's going to be a wild ride ahead. A few bumps on the road are expected but nothing can't be fixed with some good chocolates to do the pick-me up when  things get rough.

Want to find out what other blogs are up to this new year? Check out their links below. I'm so grateful to have been linked-up 2 consecutive weeks so far this month.

Last week we had all the hopes and dreams of the beginning of a new year, but now? Now it's time to put all those dreams to work. This week's roundup is all about the shake up that is the start of 2014. So get your green tea (in case one of your resolutions was to give up coffee) and read these wonderful links!

Links à la Mode Feature & 12 months of inspiration

Time passes so quickly, when I'm busy...or not.. as I get older.  My mom says that I'm one year older as soon as we hit new years regardless  when my birthday is.  I read somewhere that wisdom comes from common sense + experience. So age signifies the accumulation of all your experiences thus far, which goes to say that I'm wiser than I was last year!

New experiences can be exciting but also nerve-wrecking when they're completely new to you. I'm hoping to tackle new experiences in 2014--stepping out of my comfort zone and be wiser by the year's end.

One of the hardest things for me to do  is not to get lost in all the little things or not to "sweat the small stuff".  So, this year I'm going to make that my priority.  I hope you'll find your inspirations to guide you to where you want to be in the next 12 months. This blog is my own inspiration to continue to bring  you a piece of my world, one post at a time.

Once again, I'm headed towards a great start with my first Links à la Mode feature of 2014. It's always so nice to get linked up with other great posts.

Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to 2014. Don't you love the start of a New Year? Imagining all that will happen over the next 12 months. But one thing we can do is show you some links to help you make the best, with DIY projects, fashion tips, and a few bits of inspiration just for you!

Links à la Mode Feature and Holiday Wishes

Have you found a great coat for the winter yet? If you haven't, check out my featured post on how to avoid buying the wrong quilted puffer coat. The weather has been pretty dramatic lately--cold one day then warm the next, but winter is here to stay.  We're only 3 days away from x-mas and just t a week shy of 2014! Are you excited? I'm actually more terrified than excited because I have not made any plans for 2014. Well, since it's the holiday season, I just want to wish everyone lots of love and joy. Stay warm. Happy Holidays.

Wearing the Pants in the Family

Do you know what? Every time you think you got the pants down, something new comes up! Transparent pants, sequin pants for any occasion, no-pants... heck even changing your sweaters into pants. It's crazy what we'll do to cover our legs! Anyway, while the whole roundup isn't necessarily about PANTS, they certainly come up every now and then. What I like about the idea of "pants" is the idea of taking control of your wardrobe. Maybe everyone in your family wears pants, but in your life who or what is wearing the metaphorical pants? And what can you do to reinvent them? Let's find out in this week's Links a La Mode!

Black Friday & Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly Roundup feature

It's black Friday morning, and I'm not in line at some retail store! I have only shopped black Friday once and that was more than a decade ago. To say the least, it was a very disappointing experience because I didn't know the game. If you stood in line this morning to get the best deals, I hope you found the stuff you were looking for.  'Tis the season for mad shopping, eating, entertaining, and the process repeats over and again. I know it must be tough to visit my blog in the midst of all that, so I appreciate you reading my posts.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving. I made potato salad (recipe), meatball pasta (recipe), and lemonade (recipe). No turkey this year, but I was totally satisfied nonetheless. I also sent out emails to friends and thanked them for being such great friends.  I'm very thankful for everything great that happened in my life so far, and for all the not so great things that taught me very valuable life lessons that will help me grow as a person. How was your Thanksgiving day and how did you celebrate it?

TSB made the LALM Round-up this week with Holiday Hair Embellishments. Congrats to the other 19 bloggers whose posts have also been included. Please check out their links below. This week's list has some great holiday tips!!! Enjoy and  have a great weekend, everyone.

Grace "Grace" has many meanings. Whether you're saying "Grace" at the dinner table today with your friends and family for Thanksgiving, or you're talking about the elegance of "grace," or heck, maybe you're talking about Grace Coddington, no matter what if you love fashion, you'll be thinking about "grace" this holiday season. This week's roundup the IFB Community has put a lot of thought into their posts, with super smart tips and tricks to get you through the season. Going into the science behind autumn colors, the difference between plaid and tartan, how to shop Black Friday, and even how to style your hair for going out or staying in. It's everything you need, so grab the mug of spiced cider read these links! Happy Thanksgiving!

Links à la Mode Weekly Roundup features TSB's Furocious Fashion Face-off

This week's LALM round-up is another great  list  of spooky read--or at least it will help you get in the Halloween spirit.  It's great to be featured again this week with my FURocious Fashion Face-off post.  The weather is changing fast--it has been in the 30's in the last few days here in the NE U.S. That means it's time to wear fur and layers for me. Stay warm and remember to get a flu shot!

All Hallow's Eve

Is your costume ready? Are you excited? I'm telling you... I've spent the last few weeks honing in on my costume (we're doing a full-family costume) and nothing gets me more giddy than thinking of playful outfits to wear around town. Halloween is next week, and this week's roundup has a plethora of inspiration you can use if you've put off thinking about the spookiest day of the year. Of course, if you're a Halloween Grinch (Would that make you a Pollyanna? Someone bright and cheery?) we also have some great fashion posts as well. So take a look and get into the fashion spirit!

Links à la Mode: The IFB Weekly Roundup that features TSB

It has been a long time since I last submitted my posts to IFB weekly LALM, so I'm so thrilled my "Tips for picking tops that are trend-proof" post has been included in this week's roundup. I am going to sit down with a cup of coffee and check out all the other links and have a great time doing it this weekend. What are you doing this weekend? How about getting to know some amazing new blogs?

Falling for Fall Fashion Week, September Issues, Back to School (or just back to work) Shopping... Nothing is hotter than September for fashion. Even though fashion week's clothes don't hit the stores until next year, seeing the trends on both the runways and on the fashion elite gives us inspiration for what to wear now. Luckily we have amazing links to the fall finds we'll be falling for.

TSB Featured in Links à la Mode: July 21st. Style is..

The summer heat is making me so unhappy! It's hard to focus when I'm studying, even with the fan on.  I'm too cheap to use the AC :P I have to wash my hands every half hour because the pages of my book soak up some of my palm sweat.   Now that I've done my complaining, I got good news to share, once a gain. TSB's feature in this week's IFB LALM is really helping me fight this heat. I'm so excited that  a lot more people are going to see  BBW's cute designs!  Her banner is on my side bar.  Please take a few minutes to check out her work.  This week's roundup is another great one that we can draw inspirations from.

Style is what you make it. We are all different and beautiful in our own ways. Many of us have different techniques to display how we want to present ourselves. Some people are very "structured" "prim and proper" and live by a color scheme while others go wild with mixing patterns and have the "unpolished" and "don't care" look. It's all about where you get your inspiration from and your personality in general.
