FENDI FALL'13 RTW

The fur monster (charm for handbag) with super powers is watching your FENDI bag while you focus on real business is probably what one hopes with a price tag of $700. He's furrier looking than any charm and costs more than the money I carry in my wallet. Suffice to say, FENDI's faux fur and feathers  made for fall weather couldn't be better. Added bright electric colors to stand out from fall colors that are more gold and brown is refreshing.  There you have it -- style, comfort, with a tad of strangeness that we all can handle, right? I personally find it difficult to style fur for everyday wear.  What I needed was some inspiration and I think Fendi really inspired me to try fur with a GRRR this year.

How To Look Sexy and Classy In Fishnets

If you have been waiting patiently for the next gigantic wave [like Pirates of the Caribbean: on stranger tides ] to hit shore, be ready to catch some big fish [or mermaids] with Balenciaga's new collection. Featured on the Fall runway were some incredibly cool and modern looks that focus on texture, making a statement, interplay between femininity and masculinity, and a balance between all things we love: leather,wool, and asymmetrical color blocking. It's all about zooming in on connections between the past and present with the modern women perceived as stronger and more independent wearing bullet-proof military structured coats and pants but still retain her sexy and sensual sides with leather, over the knee skirts and tunics.  Nicolas Ghesquiere's  take on fishnets in his Fall 2011 RTW gives us some ideas on how to turn something  not so related to fashion  into a dramatic fashion statement.

 The size of fishnet featured here remind me of biker gloves and real fisherman's fishnets. The wearable fishnets, such as pantyhose, are so sexy that  we're  afraid to wear them at times because fear of looking too risqué and being stamped  as  “ a woman of the night” if not worn right.

In the U.S we have something called the "PROM", and there are movies made about it. It is a formal dance/ball for high school graduating seniors. Besides finding the perfect dress and date, choosing the right hair and makeup is no small deal. To make life easier for some of us, i wanted to post about the best hair trend for those who love a simple, elegant, yet youthful hairstyle.

If you're like me, someone who can't stand wearing your hair the same way everyday, you'll find this useful.  Frankly, it's hard for me to think of creative ways to wear a ponytail. We usually think of it as a casual, athletic, and plain homely look.  Fortunately, there are ways to jazz it up: hair accessories (bands, clips, feathers,bows), switching from high or low, straight or wavy, tight or loose.

Doodling Effect on Alexander Wang's Spring RTW...

... on the Spring runway and in high art.  As previously posted, it was so amazing how German artist, Heike Weber,  turned his love for doodling into art that wows the mass.

We doodle when our attention is otherwise occupied. We doodle when we're daydreaming in the middle of  boring lecture or when we're on the phone for hours.  Most of the time they're just abstract shapes that don't mean much.  By taking something that doesn't require our attention to produce  and transforming it into that something that could occupy all our attention is genius.

The modern meaning of doodling emerged in the 1930s either from "to swindle or to make a fool of" or from the verb "to dawdle", which since the seventeenth century has had the meaning of wasting time or being lazy.

Perhaps we all have experienced  being lazy ; we wasted time daydreaming about things that couldn't be recalled a week later.  However, those were fleeting moments of happiness that got interrupted by  "our reality".  It shouldn't be surprising that Alexander Wang experienced doodle-happy-moments, too.


This Spring, Alexander Wang has shown some interest in  doodle prints.  Whether or not they were his actual doodling or his staff's, im not  so sure.  A few outfits are featured in his Spring RTW collection.

There is absolute contrast in wearing a color so pure yet it's doodled all over.  I think a splash of color adds some playfulness and a down to earth attitude. The construction like jacket adds structure and strength by contrasting the femininity, which the white gives off.  Mid-calf lengths are appropriate for the cooling effect as the temperature rises in the city.
