Ponytail Pretty - Practical for Prom and everyday

In the U.S we have something called the "PROM", and there are movies made about it. It is a formal dance/ball for high school graduating seniors. Besides finding the perfect dress and date, choosing the right hair and makeup is no small deal. To make life easier for some of us, i wanted to post about the best hair trend for those who love a simple, elegant, yet youthful hairstyle.

If you're like me, someone who can't stand wearing your hair the same way everyday, you'll find this useful.  Frankly, it's hard for me to think of creative ways to wear a ponytail. We usually think of it as a casual, athletic, and plain homely look.  Fortunately, there are ways to jazz it up: hair accessories (bands, clips, feathers, bows), switching from high or low, straight or wavy, tight or loose.

The Dominatrix Ponytail - a sleek high ponytail
Marc Jacobs, Fall 2011

The Texturized Ponytail:  below the ears, side part, embellished with feather
Gucci Fall 2011

With the band: side-part, chin level pony
Dries van Noten Fall 2011

Feminine Mistique: middle-part with black ribbon placed around hairline (60's inspired)
 Valentino Fall 2011

Loose Pony: mid-line part, very low and loose
Alexander Wang Fall 2011

There are so many other creative ways to look fresh with ponytails, and i found one that i thought most of us have never seen on someone before.

Think you know how to make a ponytail?  This video has  some very surprising tips that i wish i knew before. Also, how to make  a homemade  hair bungee.  A Great tutorial!

  2. Cool post! I used to have short hair and I'm glad my hair is long enough to do creative things like these. Although, I'm still in love with the Wang side braid, even if it's a tad over-done. I'm going to try some of these suggestions though.

Also just wanted to say thanks for your comment on my blog :)
